Our Story

We are a Veteran-Owned Family Flower Farm & Florist that specializes in Specialty Cut Flowers & Bouquets

Located on the border of Virginia Beach and Chesapeake flanked by the magnificent Stumpy Lake, the Motherhood in Blooms garden explodes with seasonal flowers that are grown with love, based in organic and sustainable practices. Our flowers start in the spring with timeless ranunculus, anemones, and narcissus, flow into summer with a glorious array of dahlias, and finish with show-stopping heirloom chrysanthemums, and many more beautiful blooms in between.

Much of our early adult years were serving in the Navy. After a cumulative 45 years of service between the two of us, our family became the priority after our two youngest were born with no family nearby. We shifted from serving our country to serving our family and the Hampton Roads community. In the throws of parenthood, we learned that flexibility and availability were crucial to our family thriving. We still wanted a creative outlet that highlighted the beauty we have come to believe can bring hope and belonging to a community that has given us so much. Motherhood in Blooms came to fruition as the calling we desired as a family, rooted in slowing down, nurturing more quality time, and witnessing the beauty of our hard work, both in parenthood and flower farming.

Our journey of growing started right before 2020 when Jordyn lived in Pensacola, Florida where she was on orders that kept her and Scott apart. She started out growing vegetables with a few flowers to help attract pollinators. Little did she know, how important these skills would become in the following months. Jordyn moved back to Virginia Beach in July of 2020 to start nursing school, returning to Scott’s side and a new set of garden beds that Scott had prepared as a welcome home present. Over the years, they created a more permanent garden and added new raised beds every year. In 2023, busy with a new baby boy and working 14+ hour shifts switching from days to nights and back again, Jordyn opted to grow more flowers instead of vegetables. That decision showed us that our hearts needed more beauty and flowers in the midst of chaos. Shortly after that, the magnificent dahlias captured out hearts and eyes. In spring of 2024, we harvested our first ranunculus and anemones and were speechless and enamored with their beauty. After taking Floret’s Flower Farming Workshop in 2024, we added in narcissus (daffodils)to our spring lineup. We realized this is what our hearts yearned for. After we found out we were pregnant with out little girl, Jordyn took the Floret Flower Arranging Workshop in spring of 2025 and soft launched our business, Motherhood in Blooms. We grew more flowers and learned more lessons throughout the 2025 growing year. After the birth of our little girl in the fall of 2025, we decided 2026 would be the year we would turn our passion into our career.

Our flowers will be available to purchase in April of 2026!
